This is a good thing. Definitely helps in inventing a moveset and a backstory to everybody's character.

Also please refrain from posting crazy long links in threads so it doesn't stretch the forum.

This is cool, but not very surprising. For a long time, wrestlers have had legitimate backgrounds in things other than being trained to be a pro wrestler. A lot of the prospects that have come through the dojo systems in Japan, just to use an example, have some sort of background in Greco-Roman or Freestyle wrestling, boxing, judo, sumo, or something similar.

I think having people from various backgrounds learning from each other and forming their own styles based on what they know and not just doing things "The WWE Way" is a help for them, just like when New Japan brings in "outsiders" who aren't necessarily versed in strong style.

I fail to see any reason why this would be bad. Seeing as WWE's old criteria was "looks muscular and is aesthetically pleasing to the eye", having people with legitimate fighting experience only makes them sound more qualified to be professional wrestlers than models using the platform for a paycheck. The fact that most of them don't have their gimmick as "legitimate fighter; not pro wrestler" makes it a much easier thing to accept than just another shoot fighter that thinks their tougher because of their MMA experiences. Too many cooks for that gimmick to get over if it were the case. Luckily, the amateur wrestling one is easy to accept since it plays into pro wrestling more than MMA would, and that the only real people using MMA as gimmicks are O'Riely, Fish, Lesnar, Taynara Conti, Shayna Baszler and Sonya Deville (The latter three is absent from the list for some reason). I debate that is still too many but seeing as it would be impossible to ignore in most cases, I guess it's fine.

I love it. It adds some "legitimacy" to professional wrestling, and when people are trained in a certain Art it makes a move look believable for example when Baszler puts her opponent in the Rear Naked Choke it looks right and not as fake or bad. Plus, it is bringing wrestling back to its roots of having people who can actually do strikes, catches, submissions, etc, which is awesome.
